Hey everyone!

I just read the news about Avatar and how it's going to be so great since it does have the great Cameron. This must be one of the biggest budget movie I've possibly have heard of and haven't even got a question whether this will be good or not. Granted, I've always put my trust in Cameron but the combination of technology they're using is in question.

Granted, technology these days are just amazing, maybe even more amazing that it was 2 years ago. It's insane. But this new thread is not all about the tech's. But what about the storyline? What about the character developments? Set designs?

Now, I will admit I have no idea about the actual Avatar storyline, in fact I know nothing of it. Which was why I created this thread. Maybe someone can shine some light on this subject.

Avatar" is the story of a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

I heard that he is a paraplegic, but that makes the story sound gayer than aids. Also, I never saw Titanic, and I guess I don't think this will be as epic as Cameron wants it to. I mean he's taken forever to get this done, and I'm tired of hearing news stories about set photos. Its just tedious and annoying. But hey, thats just me, and maybe this movie will kick ass.

Titanic was pretty epic. It did a fantastic job in my opinion. I recommend you watching, GD91. You'll see why his art takes such a long time. James Cameron is one of those Directors who like to take their time in their art. He does not want to screw up. How rare is that we have somebody that takes the art that seriously?

Its pretty rare. Thanks for the update GD, I didn't know what it was. I mean it sounds interesting from the name. At first I thought it was based on the popular Anime cartoon "Avatar". Even then, I don't even know that storyline either because I never bothered with it.

Although, I am tired too about the whole set pics of just James Cameron and his crew. No screenshots or anything from the actual film itself. All there is news. James Cameron is quite a tease if you haven't noticed, lol. He likes to get people pumped up and curious about his films.

And...he does a great job on the tease. Including the movies themselves: Terminator, Titanic, etc. So...I don't know. So far he's been faithful as a great artist within the movie business. Let's see how far we can throw that faith with Cameron.

You said in your post that Avatar(Aang) can manipulate weather, well actually he can manipulate all four elements.

If the movie is adapted from the anime series Avatar The Legend Of Aang,i have seen every episode of this anime and loved it.Aang a wind bender and only a young boy raised by monks was chosen as the next Avatar,to learn all 4 bending element,in order to defeat the evil fire lord king,who what else-wants to rule the earth! Scared&confused he ran away with his flying baison,they got frozen in a huge piece of ice.
100 years or so later,a brother&sister[she a water bender] discovered and released him.The fire king had wiped out all the wind benders in the world,he's the only one survivor & now must learn the other elements fire,earth&watar to defeat the fire lord&his army from wiping out other bending nations using meteors which will give him great supernatural powers.Along the way,the fire lord's son who was determined to capture Aang at all cost to gain his father love,become his fire bender teacher.
In the end,the fire lord defeated&prisoned.His son became the new fire lord promising peace between all nation.Even Aang found love in the water bender who saved him from his icy prison.
This is just a brief sum up of the series.If Cameron is making the movie than it's not going to be just one but a series.

Uh everybody has clearly stated that this has nothing to do with the anime. It's not even close. No similarities whatsoever. Read before posting.

That's what I thought. I was referring to the James Cameron Project "Avatar". Yeah, that guy who won't let the project see the light of day and tease the hell out of people till it comes out.

I thought Guitar_Dudester91 and I had made the topic very clear in the beginning. Did anybody pay attention to it at all or just wrote down from what they saw from the title? If that's the case, um...yeah read before posting...It'd help the thread move a long a lot faster and a lot less violently. lol....

Well back on topic, so far we've seen quite a few concept artistry of the film. Nothing entirely real yet. But it's something besides set photos, so amen to that! But so far from I see, I think it looks very creative, different, and if Cameron's doing what I think he's doing. Then he's going to do a great job. And by that, I mean that I think he's going to make everything seem very very very real to the point where we can't tell the difference between what's real and what's not.

That's technology for you right there.

I am not feeling it. Even the minues that have been dropped online already.

But truth be told, I wasn't feeling TITANIC when Cameron wasn't letting any of it out either. Look where that got me.

I guess I will have to wait and see.
