Coen Brothers on "Big Lebowski" and "Barton Fink" SequelsPosted: September 22nd, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
We recently had the chance to sit down with the Coen brothers (No Country for Old Men), who were promoting "A Serious Man" at the Toronto Film Festival. Unfortunately, talking to them was like talking to someone who doesn't speak English and has serious Attention Deficit Disorder. Needless to say, I couldn't get even one logical answer to my questions, but it seems that MTV News had better luck.
We already heard from John Turturro that he would love to see a "Big Lebowski" spin-off, which would focus on his Jesus Quintana character, a pedophile/master bowler from the original film. Unfortunately, the Coens have no interest in this spin-off or a sequel. "We don't see it," they said. "That movie has more of an enduring fascination for other people than it does for us."
The Coens, however, have revealed that they would like to pursue a sequel to their 1991 film "Barton Fink," also starring John Turturro. "It would be called 'Old Fink,'" they said. "We told Turturro this is one sequel we'd actually like to make but not until he was actually old enough to play the part." How old are they imagining Turturro would have to be? "He's getting there," they replied.

Im glad, didnt want to see a 2nd Lebowski personally,I dont have any doubts in the brothers making a good movie out of it.. but it simply doesnt need to be done, their time is better spent on other things

You have to flip a coin to get them to answer your questions.
"Call it... CALL IT!"

as much as i love the lebowski, a sequel shouldnt be done. Cults are great only because they are original. everything that follows a huge cult hit, ends up ruining the intergrity of the original.. And a fink sequel, perhaps. It has room to improve and a sequel could actually enhance the story if done well...

At first I thought that this was about making a Big Lebowski sequel. I know that that 4 more sequels that suck shouldn't ruin the first good movie but, it's always a pain. They make a sequel and you just somehow can't help to download it for free and look at it - then you're all disapointed.
