Warner Bros has Little Interest in "The Flash" MoviePosted: October 6th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Warner Bros is doing everything it can to develop movies based on DC Comics properties, but apparently not enough to actually greenlight any of them. Superman is pretty much dead, who knows what's happening with the third Batman film, nobody cares about a Wonder Woman film, and Justice League of America is a giant failure.
That only leaves The Green Lantern and The Flash. We already know that Ryan Reynolds and director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will have "The Green Lantern" film in theaters by June 17th, 2011, but what about The Flash?
IGN caught up with producer Charles Roven, who had some bad news for fans of the character. "I was involved at one point with The Flash," he started. "And Warner Bros came to me and said, 'The work that you've been doing hasn't yet resulted in something that any of us, including the filmmaking team, feel could be greenlit as a movie. That doesn't mean that you aren't going to be a part of it. We just want to take a different kind of approach.'"
He added that it soon became clear that nothing he would bring to the studio was going to get greenlit.
That doesn't mean that The Flash movie is dead, it simply means that Roven's involvement is currently uncertain and there is nobody at Warner Bros pushing the project forward.

ATTN: Warner Bros. and those attempting to create the work required to get a movie green-lit with them: 'YOU SUCK!'

They'll change their tune. They're probably waiting to see how the Avengers will perform with all its satellite films.
If its a hit, I bet they'll mimic it with a Justice League movie with origin films for Flash and Wonder Woman.

Misleading title of post ahoy!
It was just that WB was not interested in Charles Rovens work.
That kind of lame excuse from WB is more of a 'Your ideas are shit, thanks for you time'

They're just holding out til they make a deal with Kanye West for the lead role. This way when they sign Beyonce for Wonder Woman and Lil Wayne for Superman, they'll start letting info leak about the new version of the Justice League. Smart move WB! I look forward to buying the rights to Batman when you file for bankruptcy!

With Ryan Reynolds in the Green Lantern flick, they should have cast Cooper, this Flash thing is on like support or rather DOA.

At one point Neil Patrick Harris had expressed interest in the Flash film. I could see that working.

The Flash could work... Use Mirror Master as your major villain and have the climax resemble something like the end of the Justice League Unlimited series where Wally keeps running faster and faster to hit the Lex Luthor/Brainiac hybrid harder and harder until Flash almost turns into pure Speed Energy. As long as you made it moody it would really keep it in check and semi-serious.

@Johnny - exactly.
@rabid - Neil Patrick could work... with an extra 50lbs of muscle.

He is, and they could... but not as long as WB is attached apparently.
Look WB/DC - yank Reynolds from GL. Get Bradley Cooper to play GL. Give Reynolds 'The Flash' like you should have from the beginning. Give Routh another Supes (with a HUGE - Solomon Grundy or Doomsday story - or that HUGE 3-part story about he ending up to be the last being on Earth... SOMETHING!) Get the pickle outta yer ass and start producing, before Marvel COMPLETELY HANDS YOUR PATHETIC, LAZY ASS's TO YOU!!!!!!

And before anyone jumps on me about Routh... he did a fine job. The movie itself was he still wet-spotting about abusive, ignorant Lois. But Routh as the humble, mover of planets was portrayed well I thought. I think most are tired of: Lois, Luthor... and all the small-time shit Supes wastes his time on.

Really? I liked his dry style of acting in Constantine (seriously). He was supposed to play a cynical, dying, don't give a shit - fuck life - kind of a guy. And I think he did it up in spades (just my opinion).
