"The Tourist" thriller is scrambling to put together a cast as it heads toward a February production start.
First the film was a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise and Chalize Theron, but was then re-cast with Sam Worthington and Angelina Jolie. Then Worthington left the project along with director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck over creative differences.
Now comes word that Worthington is being replaced by Johnny Depp, who is currently in-talks with the filmmakers. If he joins the cast, he will play an American tourist drawn into a web of intrigue and danger by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) as she attempts to locate a criminal who was once her lover.
And there are already plenty of directors circling the project, including Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men).
