Two wees ago, it was rumored that Mel Gibson was in talks to join the cast of the upcoming "Machete" sequel. Now comes word that he's in final negotiations, although his role has yet to be revealed.
The new movie will be directed by Robert Rodriguez, but the helmer says he may have to let another director finish the film if he has to get to work on the "Sin City" sequel. "I'll probably end up directing the whole thing, but if I have to step off, I'm going to try and shoot all of the actors and all of the main sequences," he explained.
The new movie, called "Machete Kills," finds Machete (Danny Trejo) recruited by the US Government for a mission. He must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space.
Meanwhile, a third film, called "Machete Kills Again... In Space!," is already being planned. A Grindhouse-style trailer for it will premiere in front of "Machete Kills."
