"Where the Wild Things Are" Author Maurice Sendak Dead at 83Posted: May 8th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
  Beloved children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, best known for "Where the Wild Things Are," died today at the age of 83. The cause of death was complications after a recent stroke.
Many of Sendak's works were notable — and controversial — for their unique perspective on childhood. The very young protagonists in his stories are often angry, rebellious, and downright ferocious. His characters made parents nervous but made an indelible impression on generations of readers, including Brian Selznick (The Invention of Hugo Cabret), Gregory Maguire (Wicked), and filmmaker Spike Jonze, who directed the 2009 movie adaptation of "Where the Wild Things Are."
Sendak then worked with Jonze on the documentary "Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak," which was distributed by Oscilloscope Laboratories, a company founded by Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch, who passed away just a few days ago at the age of 47.
Sendak lived with his partner, psychiatrist Eugene Glynn, for 50 years before Glynn died of lung cancer in 2007. In later years, Sendak was still hard at work on new projects.

^^Pretty much everyone involved in approving children's literature is either left-wing or liberal. Or both. Or worse.
It's called brainwashing.

I don't really understand the intention behind the first part of this comment. Why would his sexual orientation matter?

@thomas deadison::
Like I said, I have nothing against them. But it's strange for me a person who is with a man that writes for children..... But time like this, what you can expect? Now with Obama accepting gay people getting marriage. A New World for my taste, that's all!!!!!
