The Avengers DVD/Blu-ray Coming in September with Alternate EndingSubmit Comment
Despite the fact that "The Avengers" is still dominating at the worldwide box office, Disney has now revealed that the film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25th. We now have a list of the bonus material and shots of the covers.

Director Joss Whedon recently stated that the film was originally three-hours long, which means that there will be about thirty minutes of deleted scenes on Blu-ray. Apparently we're also getting an alternate ending and a new Marvel short film.

Plus, there's also a ten-disc Blu-ray set being planned. No word on what kind of bonus material will be able to fill all those discs.

4-Disc BD Combo Pack, 2-Disc BD Combo Pack and 2-Disc DVD Combo Pack:
* AUDIO COMMENTARY BY DIRECTOR JOSS WHEDON
* MARVEL ONE-SHOT: ITEM 47
* SECOND SCREEN
* GAG REEL
* DELETED SCENES (Alternate Opening – Maria Hill Interrogation, Extended Scene – Loki and Barton Strategize, Steve Rogers – Man Out of Time, Nick Fury and World Security Council, Extended Viaduct Fight – Raw Footage, Fury and Hill Discuss the World Security Council, Extended Scene – Banner and Security Guard, Alternate Ending – Maria Hill Interrogation)
* FEATURETTES (A Visual Journey, Assembling the Ultimate Team)

Why not put all the deleted scenes back into the movie and release it as an unrated disc.Or better yet put the deleted scenes back into the movie and release it back to theaters around Christmas and dominate the box office again

Good cuts. I want longer battle scenes. And by battle I mean scarjos Titties fighting to stay in
KillerCOck writes:

for real they should ave an alternate cut, that could make the film be better.

Jesus, it's not even out of theaters and they're rushing pellmell, headlong to rape the film for all it's worth. Or at least all they think it's worth.

Was thinking the samething Mink

Maybe they think doing this it will make people think twice about downloading or buying a dodgy pirate copy of the movie.

I bet in an ideal world they would want to release The Avengers around mid November to maximise it's cinema run and then the Christmas present buying market.

Bet they fear they will lose millions to piracy leaving it for so long.

I love how they are starting to make the DVD cover look entirely lame compared to the Blurays.
rocketman writes:

Way better than what the TDKR bluray cover will be.
On a separate note,they should sell vanilla disks of the films at release but only at the cinema and you can only purchase them if you get a ticket.More folks in cinemas and piracy gets a slap.
minkowski writes:

^You're not suggesting they sell DVDs of the film while said film is still in theaters, are you? Because not only would piracy NOT get a slap, it would get a huge boost instead, because then pirates would have an EXCELLENT non-cam film source!
rocketman writes:

Avengers would be on its way to 2.5 billion by now if they did. I get what your saying but its easy to get a DVD rip/screener before the DVD/Bluray is out anyway.
minkowski writes:
on May 19th, 2012 at 3:12:39 PM

Well, if the pirates have an Avengers screener somewhere, they're holding it really, really close, because all that's out is a exceptionally sh*tty cam, and like the case of Sherlock Holmes 2 and other recent films, I don't expect a superior source for another two months, at least.

But if they sold DVDs with a theatrical ticket, how long before one *sshole ripped it with some Sourceforge tool on his ten year old Ubuntu laptop and uploaded it to The Pirate Bay, just to say he's the first *sshole to do so?

And how many other *ssholes would do the same? Yeah, the studio suits might make a million extra, but once the rip hit the usual pirate circles, an interval in time measured in femtoseconds, once the DVD became free on the net, not only would a DVD sale not encourage anyone to visit a theater, it would heavily cut into baseline ticket sales.

The studios are stupid f*cks, I'll give you that, but they're not suicidal, and they live only to make money. Financial survival is their sole joie de vivre.

With some of you, I couldn't agreed more. Even the Avengers has came and go, and is about to became the most profitable superhero franchise, (Sorry Nolan's Batman) they are suppose to show us what is the real deal of this movie, I mean the freaking 3 hours. Not because of studio politics, but because we are the fans and we deserve the director's POV of what was this all about.I don't think is gonna be a let down but is gonna be an awesome journey of how this was original conceive!!!!!

Gettin' the 2-disc blu-ray..my very first blu-ray EVAH.

but, i wish they'd give us either an extended version AND..for the 10-disc, i wish they would RE-edit the whole six movies into ONE (chronological) BIG MARVEL EPIC, a la The Godfather saga.
otis writes:

The most exciting thing about the avengers is that it's heroes that you already know in it together to fight a greater evil.

Bluray? Count me in, but would really like the Coulson shorts on it as well like that FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THOR'S HAMMER.

That'd be pretty sweeet.

For those that don't know how movie making works, usually when they leave a scene out of a movie, it's because it was deemed, not necessary or too silly, or too slow, or just ended up being bad. So, no. don't put all the deleted scenes back into the movie. It'll wind up like an overlong pretentious Quentin Tarantino movie.
