"Goodfellas" Inspiration Henry Hill Dead at 69Posted: June 13th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Henry Hill, a long-time New York City mobster-turned FBI informant and witness, has died at the age of 69 at a hospital in Los Angeles. Hill became infamous in 1990, when the movie "Goodfellas" dramatized his life, with Ray Liota playing the "wise guy."
Hill's partner and manager Lisa Caserta tells CBS News that Hill, "went out pretty peacefully, for a goodfella." She says he was with family members when he passed away on Tuesday. No specific cause was given, but Caserta says that years of heavy smoking combined with complications from a recent heart attack led to his death.
For 20 years, Hill lived the mob life, until May 1980, when it all came to a crashing halt with his arrest on drug charges. Facing serious jail time, Hill accepted a government offer of protection and no criminal charges if he testified against fellow mobsters.

He also endangered his family even after going into the WPP, and from what I can tell his kids couldn't stand him.
FAIL.

Goodfella's is one of my favourite films and i watched it earlier after hearing about hills death, sadly though like most rats he invented small to entire parts of the story i.e joe pesci's character's body(based on tommy disimone)has never been found with some offficials believing it was jimmy and henry that killed him, and quite a few details have been lost that could have made this better than the godfather

Wutta price to pay for a classic movie

Liota nailed his laugh
Just an awsome movie even with some of the artistic liscences that were taken
Especially with Pescis character
And the beginning of the Sam Jackson invasion

This is one of the few times the movie is better than the book. The book at times goes into too much into Hill's scams, it slows the book.
Best line I read in an article...
Henry to Liotta: Thanks for not making me look like a schmutz..."'
Lotta: "What? You didn't see the movie?"
If you want to read a good mob book, buy/ checkout Underboss co-written by Sammy "The Bull" Gravano. Scorsese could've made a badass film with that one...
