Variance Films has unveiled the trailer for "Red Hook Summer," a new film by big-time *sshole Spike Lee that's set to hit theaters on August 10th, in limited release. Check out the trailer below.
Plot: The story of Flik Royale, a sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse, in the housing projects of Red Hook. Having never met before, things quickly get off on the wrong foot as Bishop Enoch relentlessly attempts to convert Flik into a follower of Jesus Christ.
Between his grandfather's constant preaching and the culture shock of inner-city life, Flik's summer appears to be a total disaster -- until he meets Chazz Morningstar, a pretty girl his age, who shows Flik the brighter side of Brooklyn. Through her love and the love of his grandfather, Flik begins to realize that the world is a lot bigger, and perhaps a lot better, than he'd ever imagined.

Before reading your post I thought it was Eddie Murphy.
Anyways, Spike has come close to making genuinely good films but there always seems to be something he f*cks up on that prevents them from being great.
Malcolm X was a great film, so was Crooklyn imo. But most of his other films do struggle somewhat to achieve greatness. His style is pretty unique and highly independent, which also makes it not everyone's cup of tea. I put him in the same category as David Lynch, Roger Corman, Richard Linklater, Jim Jarmusch, and Wes Anderson. He's not groundbreaking anymore but he's still respectfully different from the pack. This does look a little better than his most recent failures, but its still not something I'll run to the theater to see on opening day.

Definitely a douche bag. Moreso he got lucky with a few films IMO. hes a one pump chump in my eyes always makes movies with the same old note nothing new. That and he is also a horrible human being. Up there with kanye west in my book. Now that i say that he will proly take to twitter and tell his gang of houligans to come to my house and kill me

You take a CLint Eastwood and you lose my favor. This guy had some great films. Malcolm X, Inside Man, etc. but then he went even farther down the racist hole. Everything he does is so preachy about that stuff it's sickening. Ironically he called Eastwood racist and yet all he does he talk about that crap. Now if he were to do it from an intelligent stand point I'd understand, but all he does is have white guys act like idiots. As good as Inside Man was, every white guy in that film was portrayed as a complete idiot and a racist bastard.

Here's the story poor black family pursicuted by the white race Rob steal and kill all in the name of brotherhood! Basically just like all other racist spike lee films. f*cking faggot!
More racist garbage from the 'master' of racist films.
I wonder when black people will stop exploiting racism for financial gain...probably never, I guess. Not until there's no money left to exploit, and then they'll just start killing everyone.
"I put him in the same category as David Lynch, Roger Corman, Richard Linklater, Jim Jarmusch, and Wes Anderson"
LOL, right, the one worthless racist black director alive and you equate him with a bunch of white directors who have done a thousand more creative films than Spike would, could do in a hundred of his vacuous lifetimes.
I agree for the most part. Overall I enjoy his films more than I dislike them. Just a few things that seem to take me out the films. Like the unnecessary sexual overtones where not needed and giving himself roles in his films. However, his films do have a different feel that somestimes stands out which is a good thing. I actually thought 'Miracle at St. Anna' was very decent minus a few scenes and subplots. Other than that I really don't care about what he does off screen because it is irrelevant.
Looks more like a high school project than a movie... Who goes out and watches this crap? This has been done 100 times before and probably better...always the same message, zero creativity (looking at the trailer)...I'm sick and tired of Spike's semi-intelligent bullsh*t...
