Tom Hanks has been working on a new animated web-series, called "Electric City," which is set to premiere on Yahoo!. The entire series is 90 minutes long, but it will be broken up into 5-7 minute episodes. The first ten episodes will be released on July 17th, with the rest of the series to be released on July 18th and July 19th.
Plot: The world as we know it has ended and out of the rubble, the Electric City stands as a symbol of peace and security. Yet under the veneer of order lies a world full of secrets and violence. Secret police, back-alley dealings, daring chases, and murder all find a home in the "Electric City." Through the lens of a functioning, yet dystopian metropolis, "Electric City" touches upon relevant global issues and themes including energy consumption, freedom of information, crime and punishment and more.
"Electric City" has plenty of interactive and social features, like a 3D interactive map and the ability to view character's back-stories. In addition to Hanks, the new series also stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, Holland Taylor, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Antoon, Chris Parnell, and Paul Scheer.
