Giant Robot in Poster for Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim"

Giant Robot in Poster for Guillermo Del Toros Pacific RimSubmit Comment
Warner Bros has unveiled the Comic-Con poster for Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim," which will feature giant robots battling giant monsters. It stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Rinko Kikuchi, and is set to hit theaters on July 12th, 2013. Check out the poster below.

Plot: Legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea and begin a war that takes millions of lives and consumes humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

i haven't been impressed by any of the posters from this movie.Love Del Toro's work but am really skeptical about this one.

The birds, the people, provide a sense of scale, so the robots are enormous.

Anyway, it's del Toro, so he'll do it at least half-right, but the story doesn't inspire me. Sounds like a hundred Japanese z movies, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ultraman thrown together.

Sadly, no marketable lead has already doomed this film to average performance at best.

Why can't hollywood make a cool robot movie? Why all the cheese? Everything about this movie looks awful.

Jaeger is German for 'hunter' FWIW.

Maybe with every ticket purchase, Rinko Kikuchi gives you a Pacific rim job.

Charlie Day is hilarious and I think he's marketable. Horrible Bosses did pretty well. That said Charlie Day is a comic actor and this is sci-fi. I love Del Toro's creatures, so I hope he can pull it off.

My attempt at a pun Bandelero, but you're right, posting something that requires a minuscule shred of intellect is clearly not suited for this site.

Kind of understand the skepticism but growing up a big Ultraman fan has me dying to see this. Plus I'll give Guillermo a chance anytime. Blade 2 and Pans Labyrinth earned him a lot of credit in my book even though he hasn't lived up to his former promise since.

RIP Ernest Borgnine

He was in so many good films, Way too many to list.

One of the last actors around who bridges that gap between old and new hollywood.

Sad news: actor Ernest Borgnine, who won an Oscar playing the lovesick “Marty” in the 1955 film, died today of renal failure in Los Angeles; he was 95. Rest in peace.
