Lionsgate has announced that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been cast in the upcoming "Hunger Games" sequel, called "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The actor will play Plutarch Heavensbee, the head gamemaker.
The sequel begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) returns home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.
"Catching Fire" is set to hit theaters on November 22nd, 2013. Meanwhile, the first film will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, On Deman, and Digital Download on August 18th. To promote the release, Lionsgate has released a Special Features trailer, which you can watch below.

I don't think I've seen a book series more hurriedly exploited than The Hunger Games. I can almost here the greedy execs breathing hard over all the money they hope to make.
