Plot: 15-year-old Ellis (Phillips) is getting ready to leave his luxurious home in the foothills of Tucson for his freshman year at Gates Academy, an East Coast prep school. Wasn't that the movie that tried to be like The X-Files, so much that David played a very Fox Mulderish character? Yeah, see, all I recall of that film was the huge alien thing. It was like Men in Black, but less coherent, and more forgettable, and I say that because don't remember much of a damned thing about it.
As for the X-Files 3 film, fuhgeddaboutit. Not happening. Too late now to make any sense. They trapped themselves with the 2012 timeline, thinking they'd have that movie out long before then, and then nothing happened. So, it's over. Fox should have either given them the money to do X-Files 2 right, instead of making a film even fans hate, or just passed on the opportunity. FOX's bean counters screwed us on that one.
Xfiles 3 will never happen. The last one was horrible, and their audience has "moved on". Plus Gillian Anderson isn't really turning back the hands of time with her face.
Fox should just wait a few more years, and then make another X-Files TV series, ala Next Generation. Duchovny could cameo from time to time. I'm sure Fox will find a way to squeeze every last drop of profit from this franchise.

Totally agree with this, if they got some decent writers on board they could have another hit on their hands. X-Files was an amazing show with tons of promise that fizzled out due to inept writers that squandered a great premise.

Yeah that movie was ok mate no need for a sequel though IMO. That was Ivan Reitman trying to right his wrongs after getting Arnold up the duff.
Just feel like The X files had one more big screen outing.
At it's peak seasons 1-5 were some of the best TV from the past 20 years.

Agree Mink, You would have thought Carter wouldn't have let the show go out like that.
All those years of saying he had a vision of the shows end and it went out like a damp squib and i include the last few episodes of season 9.
I know, right, trailer. I guess he just got tired of fighting David to stay on the show, and when I think about it, I get angry because Duchovny really screwed the pooch on that one, thinking he needed to run off for career's sake, striking while the iron's hot so to speak, only for him to immediately fizzle out and die. What a waste.
Season 1-6 are the best, and the show didn't choke up until he left.

I know why the hell did he feel like he had to leave anyway.
Was it one of those i'm better than playing Fox Mulder, I'm a real actor you know ?
