Back when Lionsgate first announced that it will turn the three "Hunger Games" books into movies, there was a rumor that the third book would be split, which would result in four "Hunger Games" films.
Now comes word directly from the studio that the plan is exactly that. While "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," the second film, will hit theaters on November 22nd, 2013, Lionsgate has also set release dates for the last two movies, based on the "Mockingjay" book.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" will be released on November 21st, 2014 and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" will follow on November 20th, 2015.
This is obviously nothing new in the film industry. Both "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" split the last books into two movies.
