Christian Bale is Nikola Tesla and Nicolas Cage is Thomas Edison in "Tesla, Ruler of the World"Posted: July 11th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Last year there was a rumor that Christian Bale may play Nikola Tesla in a new film about the scientist/inventor, called "Tesla, Ruler of the World." Now comes word that Bale is officially in talks and Nicolas Cage is negotiating to play Thomas Edison. Mike Newell (Prince of Persia, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) will direct.
Tesla (1856-1943) was a contemporary and major competitor of Thomas Edison. His best known contribution to the scientific world was as the proponent of AC (alternating current) electricity versus DC (direct current) electricity as championed by Edison.
The story will feature some modern day elements relating to a "technological crisis."
Tesla was last portrayed by David Bowie in Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige," which also starred Bale.

This I have GOT to see. Its about time the story of Tesla was given a big-screen treatment. Maybe this will in some small part educate the dumbasses in the world who don't know about the myriad of contributions Tesla made to modern society. And how big a d*ck Edison was.

Yes. That has all the chances to be epic. At least on the crazy side.
Looks like after setting the score with IRS Cage is back to making decent movies.

Very nice article PORNFLY.
Edison was a real bastard! He promised to Tesla to give a significant amount of money (I don't remeber how much but it was a lot) if he succeed to accomplish a work for him and when Tesla did the job, Edison said that it was a joke and never gave him the money he promised. Tesla had to work as a workman on construction sites for 3 years in order to survive because of that.
Edison knew that Tesla was a genius and did everything to destroy him. Edison was also a dangerous d*ckhead by insisting to maintain the direct current which caused multiple fire on the streets and killed many residents.
Also, the actual power station as we know it comes from Tesla's inventions and it hasn't changed much. A great genius ahead of his time.

@Joker: Sick bastard indeed. The fire I mentioned killed many horses too. If he was alive, I'd shove an E27 bulb up his ass and turn on the power constantly!

Telsa is by far the most important inventor of our society. What's sad... his legacy is hardly acknowledged by anyone other than the scientific community.
He is the original mad genius. I doubt we'll ever see someone as incredibly smart and eccentric as he was. Now every genius in today's world is covered in a cloak of a corporation.
I actually live right down the road from his laboratory on long Island. Next town over is where they did the first transcontinental radio communication. pretty cool stuff

Yes, yes, Tesla was an absolute genius. He was, also, an absolute nut. He advocated eugenics, was bizarrely obsessive-compulsive, and thought women would eventually be the dominant sex, despite all the obvious evidence to the contrary.
Of course, Tesla is far more popular with the anti-American crowd than Edison, and much of Tesla's problems in the US stem from him not having an ounce of knowledge in running, or operating within, a business, and time and time again, he was trumped by his own naivete.
He was still, of course, as brilliant as the electricity he generated.

No, that honor belongs to the 'divine' Leonardo da Vinci. The guy who "invented" robots, aeroplanes and somehow knew everything about Jesus.
