Universal Pictures recently decided to make "Ouija," their big screen adaptation of the Hasbro board game, into a low-budget movie. And now comes word that the team of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (writers of "Knowing" and "The Possession") have been hired to both direct and write the script.
Plot details are being kept a secret, but since Jason Blum is producing, it's safe to say that the film will be similar to his other projects like "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious," two horror films that were huge hits.
At one point, McG was on board to direct, but that was when the studio wanted a big-budget movie. When most of the money disappeared, so did McG. Since then, Blum brought in a team to help him reimagine the property. Michael Bay is also on board to produce. The plan is to be have the film ready for theaters in 2013.

I doubt I'd trust much from the Knowing people. Had to have been one of the dumber science fiction films of all time. Aliens somehow know the sun will basically burn the earth to a cinder, so instead of telling the world's leaders, or just do nothing, or try to avert the catastrophe, they give some kid a bunch of numbers to be placed inside a vault for Nick Cage to decode fifty years later, so he can run around for an hour or so witnessing disasters, and in the end, all we get is some CGI destruction, piles of black rocks with no meaning, aliens dressed as CIA spooks, and running, burning wildlife.

Then... right off the map for the 2nd. half. I mean... WTF?!?!
