Earlier this year, we had two Snow White films, "Mirror Mirror" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" battling it out for your money. And now there are two Sleeping Beauty movies in the works.
The first is Disney's "Maleficent," which stars Angelina Jolie and is based on the Sleeping Beauty villain. The second, that has just been announced, is a comedic take on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that's being produced by Neil Moritz (Fast and the Furious, 21 Jump Street).
The story is a modern-day retelling that finds the male protagonist accidentally awakening Sleeping Beauty and finding that he can't get rid of the lovestruck girl. There's currently no studio attached to the project.

Isn't there some other iconic, cherished and treasured folk tale they can cynically exploit? Cinderella, maybe, or Pinnochio, starring Thomas Jans as the hungry boy puppet and John Travolta as the sandwiched-nosed Geppetto. Lots of other sh*t to ruin, Hollywood. I'd much rather see a gritty mystery film loosely based on Sleeping Beauty, where a deranged serial killer kidnaps young blonde college women, keeps them drugged to sleep for hours, and performs several depraved sexual and harmful acts before killing them.
It'd be a change.
