Jim Carrey recently dropped out of the "Dumb and Dumber" sequel after seeing that Warner Bros wasn't very excited about developing the new film. After a few days, Jeff Daniels confirmed that everything was back on track and Carrey was once again looking to reprise his role.
Now, during an interview with The Wrap, the Farrelly brothers revealed that the sequel will likely happen and that the only obstacle is convincing studio executives that the script is funny.
"I believe a sequel is going to happen," said Bobby Farrelly. "We're going to shoot this because Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels want to do it. For the first time, they are both available and are eager to do it."
He added: "But it hasn't been the easiest thing in the world to get off the ground. For the people who wear the suits [it's difficult] to read such a silly script and say 'oh that's hysterical let's make it.' They are businessmen; they're not comedians."
Regarding the status of the script, Farrelly said that he and his brother have been writing it for the last four months. "We feel we have a very very funny script. We're optimistic it will get made this fall."

I thought Jim Carrey said he didn't wanna do Dumb and Dumber. Jeff Daniels is going great with the HBO series The Newsroom. He gives a provocative statement to a college girl. Jeff Daniels, don't do Dumb and Dumber 2. You're too great for this.

Um, you shouldn't have to convince them its funny. It either is, or it isn't. Sounds to me like they're trying to convince someone they can trick people into seeing another Farrelly Brothers abomination, even after The Three Stooges bombed.
Terrible, terrible film by the way.
