Kenneth Branagh (Thor) will next direct Paramount Pictures' Jack Ryan movie, a fourth installment in the franchise that also includes "The Hunt for Red October," "Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger," and "The Sum of All Fears."
THR has now learned that Branagh is also negotiating to play the film's villain, Viktor Stazov, a financial wiz who, with the help of the Russian government, masterminds a plot to devalue American currency and thus destroy the US economy.
Chris Pine (Star Trek) is starring as Ryan, the ex-Marine turned analyst from the Tom Clancy novels. Here, Ryan is a financial analyst living in Moscow who uncovers a terrorist plot.
