Don Cheadle is set to reprise his role as Rhodes/War Machine in the third "Iron Man" installment, but the actor is also interested in appear in the upcoming "Avengers" sequel, which will hit theaters in 2015.
"I wouldn't have been able to do the [first 'Avengers'] film [since] I was shooting the Showtime show 'House of Lies' at the time," he explained. "But the good thing about the Marvel universe is that they intersect, and anyone can show up in any [movie] at any time, so it's not a done deal that War Machine won't show up in an 'Avengers' [sequel], or in something that's just War Machine."
Cheadle also spoke about the current status of the relationship between Rhodes and Tony Stark. "There's always this underlying sort of competitiveness and suit envy between both of them," he said. "As ['Iron Man 3' director] Shane [Black] is fond of saying... there are kind of two Iron Men - one of them who's private sector Iron Man and the other one who's this military Iron Man. And what's their jurisdiction, and where's the overlap happen, and how does it make each of them feel? So a lot more of that kind of gets looked into in ['Iron Man 3']."

Now hypothetically speaking since the US Govt now has a suit of there own couldn't / wouldn't they just order Col.
