Heath Ledger's Father Says Heath Can't Be Blamed for Colorado ShootingsPosted: July 24th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
The tragedy in Colorado resulted in the death of twelve people and left dozens injured. But just because the killer, James Holmes, told the cops that he's The Joker, some have come to the ridiculous conclusion that the character and Heath Ledger (who played The Joker in "The Dark Knight") are to blame.
Ledger isn't here to comment on this, but his father is. Speaking to Yahoo, Kim Ledger spoke about the Colorado shootings: "It's terrible - the whole circumstances. It's diabolical. I am appalled. The guy's obviously a nut case. He has obviously lost it. I think what America should be doing is restricting the availability of ammunition or revisiting their gun laws."
He then commented on whether the Joker character or Heath are somehow responsible. "We can't blame Heath or the character. It's fictitious," said Kim. "I don't know what this does to the character. I think that's the least of my worries."

He resembles Ronald McDonald more than anything with that red hair. Maybe we should really blame McDonalds.

The Joker is a powerful character indeed, especially when considering his mainstream portrayal by Heath Ledger. It would be difficult for anybody, including the victims, not to blame the character because of the inspiration of the crime. Folks need to learn that fiction is fiction and actions are only to blame by those who make said actions.

Mainstream acceptance of a character that is essentially a remorseless serial murderer may be potentially to blame in cases like these. Nolan's Joker was adored by fans and was catapulted to superstar status after The Dark Knight premiered. When society worships killers you get weak minded and lonely people like Holmes who try to emulate them.

It's a tragedy, yes, plain and simple. Whatever this obviously mentally disturbed individual did IS unforgivable and unjustifiable. Blaming Heath's Joker CHARACTER is just a way to get attention. Knowing the media, they'll dwell on that little detail for as long as they possibly can.

The only one to blame is the man that did this. You can't blame any characters in a movie or a movie in general because thats not what that was intended to do. This is a disgusting act done by a man that has serious issues. Not by a dead man who would not want this.

^useless motherf*cker.
On topic: let Heath rest in peace.
I don't know what's Colorado policy on death penalty, but this guy should be left alive and released in prison's general population (which sadly won't happen).
He shot children. f*cker thinks he is a joker - his ass should receive corresponding grin for years to come.

We live in a society where no one is taught to take responsibility for their actions and until that changes things are going to stay just as f*cked as they are today.
My opinion is that James (the psycho nut who called himself the Joker) should be shot in the head. Most of the time I diasgree with "an eye for an eye." That is accountability for making sure that this guy no matter if they plea insanity or not will not being crazy enough to do something like this again.
In cases like this I would gladly see the culprit sentenced to death. he needs tobe held accountable for his actions.
So leave Heath Ledger alone.
