"Despicable Me" animated film hit theaters in 2010 and grossed $543 million on a $69 million budget. Universal Pictures quickly greenlit a sequel, which is now set to be released on July 3rd, 2013.
Along with Gru (Steve Carell), the Minions will also return for the sequel. And now comes word that the Minions will also star in their own spin-off film, which was written by Brian Lynch (Hop) and will be directed by Kyle Balda (The Lorax) And Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me).
It's unclear what the spin-off will be about, but it's already set for a 2014 release.
