No chance he could get out of that commitment.

Moral of the story kids...catch cancer or a bullet and you're half way towards getting a celebrity to visit your ass in the hospital. If you happen to catch both at the same time then you're almost guaranteed a visit.

This is a good thing he did. He didn't have to go there. He could have just issued statements from a movie set or one of his estates. He went to a place not knowing what kind of reaction he would get. Some people probably blame him or his movie irrationally out of pain and anger, yet he went, and that's admirable. Class act Mr. Bale.

Girl on the left is texting to her GF: 'get over here, Christian Bale got his c*ck out'. Girl on the right texting back: 'where where ?'
And I think in the third picture Bale was still laughing about the girl just next to him to the right in the first pic
Nevertheless, class act

there may be things i don't like about christian bale, but he's definitely done a good thing here....i'll be disappointed if none of the other cast or crew (that is wealthy of course) don't go to visit, yea sure they may be busy with their own families and work and what not...but if it was of their relatives in that shooting they'd flying to that town in a heartbeat...christian, i give you props for taking time out of your busy schedule to show these people you care as much as they do

@synthetic - I don't think a person's wealth should determine whether they do a good deed or not.
And as for his rant on that movie set. I think he had every right to do so, and just the way he did it. The crew have all the time they need to adjust their sh*t (lighting in that case). When the director calls 'action' - it's the actor's time. They go to work. Everyone else can stand still and STFU! None of us can imagine the pressure alone of starring (thus carrying the weight) of a $100mil+ movie. All eyes are on you. You can almost make or break a movie. I think his rant was more than justified.

@Ranger - agreed. As amusing as his rants were to listen to (over and over again), most of us don't have an appreciation of the amount of time it takes to create a film shoot. I had the opportunity to visit a set for an entire day once and most of the time is spent on moving around and setting up the pieces even before the actor shows up. The actor sits in their dressing room, waiting, waiting, waiting. If they are carrying the weight of the movie then this is their job stress. No wonder movies take a long time and cost so much to make. Many think of actors as prima donnas of the world who are given the royal carpet treatment on a daily basis. Yes they are treated very well compared to most professionals. And the fan idolization certainly would affect their perception of self worth and self preservation. So when someone comes along and f*cks their sh*t up, likely unintentionally in the case of the lighting stage hand (or was it?), then I can forgive their momentary snaps and violent outbursts. Just like I wouldn't want someone playing with the light levels if I was delivering a powerpoint presentation at work.
Kudos for Bale for visiting the hospital and the shooting victims. I like that he even dressed incredibly down to add to his humble gesture. He set a precedent that even Warner Bros are still trying to come to grips with on how to react against the injured survivors, the witnesses and the families of the deceased. Solid dude.
