"The Dark Knight Rises" Crosses $300 Million, Experts Say The Bat is UnrealisticPosted: August 2nd, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Warner Bros is happy to report that "The Dark Knight Rises" has now crossed the $300 million mark domestically, becoming only the third film this year to do so. The other two are "The Avengers" and "The Hunger Games."
"The Dark Knight Rises" was able to achieve this milestone in twelve days. Looking at the other installments in the franchise, in the first twelve days "Batman Begins" earned $122.5 million, while the "The Dark Knight" took in $333.9 million. This once again may mean that the third film won't be able to break the $1 billion mark globally.
Meanwhile, military experts are calling The Bat from the movie "unrealistic." The problem is that the rotor system, which is housed under the body of The Bat, won't generate enough thrust to get it off the ground. Helicopters achieve the right amount of thrust by using rotors that extend well beyond the width of the body, plus they circulate air from above to below, which creates lift. But The Bat has rotors located beneath the machine, resulting in lack of thrust and lack of stability.
The expert admitted that with the design seen in the film, there's one way for The Bat to get off the ground. "[It] would need an unbelievable amount of power. A fusion reactor big enough to power a city that was small enough that you could carry it around in a medium truck," he said.

Nolan made a big deal about the Batpod and the Tumbler being realistic, then he uses something that violates pretty much every aerodynamic principle in existence.
It's also said that flying the Bat would be like balancing a baseball bat, no relation, upright in the palm of your hand, if the Bat could even get off the ground, which it couldn't.
Good one, Nolan.

Its opening in more international markets and more screens oversees. The small dip seen in the US will be compensated for and some. It will cross the billion mark. Maybe only by a dollar but it will happen.

For at least a couple hundred years or more (I'm guessing) the media has cited "experts" as sources for their stories. Does anyone ever actually question what the f*ck that means exactly? What makes one random *sshole anymore an "expert" than some other random *sshole? Confucius say.

Chalk it up to Wayne Applied Science Division being way ahead of the curve on this one. If Tony Stark can invent an arc reactor that gives incredible powers to the Iron Man suit and keeps shrapnel from driving into his heart then why not in this fictional world can there be a mini fusion reactor under the belly of the Bat. Yes Nolan was probably a bit sloppy with this Bat and its realism to fly and do all the things it claimed to do. But after seeing The Tumbler, Bat Pod, we were bound to see another unique vehicle in this last instalment. An assault aircraft seems a logical choice. Its a movie for f*ck sakes - let it go. Besides, I thought it looked and sounded awesome in IMAX.

This tripe will clear a billion by 9/1 and will still be a mediocre 3rd film in a trilogy like The Matrix Revolutions or Superman III. The Blu-Ray will sell like hot bullets and all will be right with the world.

That makes no sense, As crap as Episode 1 was and Jar Jar is a total c*nt of a character, The movie made a shed load of money.
Why do you need an excuse for boxoffice results,. End of the day this movie will end up north of $900 mil, Not to bad if you ask me.

It's a movie, keyword MOVIE, based on a f*cking comic, second keyword COMIC! No sh*t it's not going to be an entirely realistic movie. I'm surprised that they haven't touched on the fact that there's no way for Banes mask to supply him with a constant stream of the gas he needs without needing to hook it up to a machine or refilling it every day and then there's Batmans little leg thing. Seriously guys, f*ck off...it's a movie...it's not based in our world, it does not matter if it's realistic or not. On a side note, a mask like Bane's would be fantastic for people who need constant pain relief. Maybe design it so it provides a 12 - 24 hour supply before needing to be refilled.
