First Look at Chris Hemsworths Red Dawn RemakeSubmit Comment
The upcoming "Red Dawn" remake has been completed for a while, but is only now revving up its marketing campaign. Today, we have the first official photos from the movie that stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Josh Peck (The Wackness), Adrianne Palicki ("Friday Night Lights"), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Connor Cruise (Seven Pounds) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). Check out the photos below.

Plot: In "Red Dawn," a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the US has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters.

The new movie is directed by Dan Bradley and is set to hit theaters on November 21st, 2012.

This film is the Duke Nukem Forever of films.

So. America is being invaded by the Chinese, or the North Koreans, and the only people around to defend us are a bunch of pistol-packing children? Our vastly superior military went where? And you don't invade sh*t using paratroopers.

Sure, that may have worked for the Germans with respect to Crete during WWII, at a HUGE f*cking cost to men and equipment, but Crete is an island, and it was comparatively easy for the Germans and Greeks, who simply threw enough men at the British, to force them to the other side and eventually evacuate.

You can't do that here. You can't make a f*cking beachhead out of some town somewhere. It's just STUPID.

Whatever. Red Dawn has sat on a shelf for almost three years, I've read, and there must be a reason or two. One wonders if the embarrassment of gross unreality is one of them.

This flick has been shelved for the last what, two or three years? It took three Summer hits from Chris Hemsworth for this thing to even be released, eventually.

Yeah, Red Dawn started shooting in 2009 with the Chinese in mind. Afterwards, MGM CGI'd all the Chinese markings to North Korean. The film proceeded to sit due to MGM's financial issues.

Just like the pathetic Robocop 3 sat due to Orion's collapse.

Just like The Punisher (1989) due to New World Pictures collapse. (U.S. theatrical release was scrapped)

And many other films.

As preposterous as the story may be, I'll give it a shot due to curiosity.

I could see this film having modest amount of success riding on the coat tails of The Hunger Games. Any film that features teenagers rising up and taking arms "American style" especially against a bunch of foreign invaders threatening on home turf will probably have some patriotic appeal. I wonder how far the film will push the invasion theme and have the North Koreans threaten to destroy everything that America stands for eg. burning a US Flag, stomping on some home made apple pie, tearing up a copy of the Constitution and executing public officials. I think Marketing should consider hanging on to Red Dawn's release a little longer and wait until the 4th of July. Then give it a new slogan "Nobody f*cks with US".

I have yet to meet someone from Washington (or Oregon for that matter) that had a big enough c*ck to pick up a real gun, let alone use it. All I ever meet are smug coffee addicted know it alls from Seattle who want to hit on me. Hey, if you're born gay and I am born straight then why the hell do you keep trying to recruit me?

Yeah, totally unrealistic. Very stupid idea. Even the 1st one was really absurd as it came out during the Reagan administration and he was openly willing to go at war with Russia and we all know how it ended. Utterly preposterous.
