"Raging Bull II" Changes Title, Disassociates Itself from Original FilmPosted: August 3rd, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
About a month ago, MGM filed a lawsuit against "Raging Bull II," a new film that's both a prequel and a sequel to Martin Scorsese's original that doesn't have the involvement or the endorsement of Scorsese or Robert De Niro.
MGM has now agreed to drop the lawsuit after the filmmakers behind "Raging Bull II" have agreed to change the title and to completely disassociate itself from the original movie. The new title is now "The Bronx Bull."
In the lawsuit, MGM claimed that Jake La Motta (who De Niro played in the 1980 movie) signed an agreement that gives the studio the right to any sequels. La Motta is involved with "The Bronx Bull."

William Forsythe as Jake LaMotta, These guys missed a trick here.
They should have asked De Niro to reprise his now long forgotten role, He would have done it in a heartbeat.

"If La Matta IS involved than MGM has no case."
MGM has the rights to sequels, not LaMatta, and MGM is all about survival these days. They're not going to let anyone eat their lunch.
BTW, I'll bet the lawsuit was dropped because sick man studio MGM just doesn't have the cash to fight them in court.

Doesn't even have to be news. It can be something Alex read off the back of a Rice Krispies box.
