First Photo of Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln"Posted: August 8th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first official photo of Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) as America's 16th President in Steven Spielberg's upcoming "Lincoln" film. Check it out below.
The movie will focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War. It is based on the best-selling book, "Team of Rivals," by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, who co-wrote the script with Tony Kushner (Munich).
"Lincoln" is directed by Spielberg and co-stars Sally Field as Lincoln's wife, Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Lincoln's son Robert and Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes 2) as Ulysses S. Grant. It's set to hit theaters on November 9th.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor. The makeup looks great so far. I'm hoping for a great movie.

Technically, Spielberg hasn't lost a thing. He's still at the top of his game. It's the scripts that have been subpar. War Horse is a film he could've directed in his sleep, and there are some great moments in it. But the script was a bit schmaltzy at times. And it seemed more like a technical exercise by Spielberg to get back on the horse, so to speak, rather than a film he poured his soul into. I am looking forward to this. Hopefully the script will be excellent.

That Day-Lewis is un-f*cking-canny as Lincoln!!
But this guy is so method, I'm surprised he didn't spent months in a log cabin, memorized Lincoln's letters/ speeches, jerked off to Mrs. Lincoln pictures, and practiced getting in the back of his head...in Hollywood.. in a adult theatre!!
But I bet his acting talent will easily match his appearance. Count me in...

This man is absolutely incredible. Pure talent. This guy has the most impressive acting skills. At least he's not selling himself like de Niro or Pacino for easy money in useless films. He's remaining true to himself as a true Artist. Yes with a capital A.
Name one actor who can be assimilated in his unique category? Just one.

DDL and Fiennes are about 2 of the best going (along with Hopkins... but I thought he went without saying).
Oh, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Agreed with Ralph Fiennes. Hoffman is great but he's not as versatile as DDL.
