"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" will be the last film in the franchise, and to give fans something to look forward to, Summit Entertainment decided to change the ending.
According to Entertainment Weekly, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer got together with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg one night over dinner and changed the events that take place in the end of the last book in the series.
"When I first read the script, I got to that part and was like, 'What?' And then I had to go back a page," said Robert Pattinson, adding that he was pleasantly surprised. "It does it a serious justice."

You know what would justify it? News that the profits of the film would be used to produce a quality, R-rated version of Twilight.
I wouldn't mind seeing werewolves tearing people apart limb from limb and a non-sparkly vampire lover-boy tearing the flesh from the neck of his human and gorging on her blood.
Sounds like entertainment to me.
