"300" is getting a sequel/spin-off that will take place at the same time as the original film. It's called "300: Battle of Artemisia," and since it takes place at the same time, the idea was always to bring Gerard Butler as King Leonidas, but in a smaller capacity.
Butler always loved the idea, but now in interview with MTV, he revealed that he's no longer involved with the project. "I'm not doing it," said the actor. "They're filming [the '300' sequel] right now. I wish them the best, but it didn't [work out]. It wasn't really my thing."
In the new movie, the Persian king-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) leads an army against Greek forces, who have little training but are under the guidance of a general named Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton). It's set to hit theaters on August 2nd, 2013.
