"Resident Evil: Retribution" Takes First at Box Office, "The Master" Sets a RecordPosted: September 16th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
"Resident Evil: Retribution," the fifth installment in the franchise, took first place at the domestic box office this weekend by grossing $21 million. That's less than expected and less than the opening numbers for "Resident Evil 4" ($26.7 million). But even though "Retribution" cost $65 million to make, it will likely become profitable since the franchise is very lucrative overseas. It already took in $50 million from foreign territories. The film has a 35% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.
Taking second place was the 3D re-release of Pixar's "Finding Nemo," which grossed $17.5 million. That matched the results of "Beauty and the Beast" 3D re-release ($17.8 million), but fell short of "The Lion King 3D" ($30.2 million). The conversion only cost $5 million to do.
Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" set a record by grossing $145,949 per theater, beating the previous record-holder "Moonrise Kingdom" ($130,759). Obviously the film will begin expanding to a wide release. It has a 87% fresh rating.

These movies would have made a lot more money if they would have stuck to the actual games. But thats what happens when the lead actress is married to the director. They should have hired someone like Danny Boyle to direct these films.

I've only seen the 1st one, and that was only because Marilyn Manson did the score. One was enough.

i know nobody's gonna see this comment, and it will go as the last comment on this page.
Put the 5th film sucked ass... 2 outta 5, it was stupid, there wasn't even a SINGLE real zombie in the movie. they were all f*cking set up like some computer game test. It's like they wanted to make a little extra cash before they finished the series with the 6th so they just made up some lame plot to carry out just to add an extra film... Dumb.
But the Ending of the 5th makes me have faith, if they pick up EXACTLY from where it ends, The 6th should be alright. Looks promising.

I like the image. The ships look just like Skynet's air patrol VTOLs. Totally original. Ripping off films from decades ago. But Milla needs more sh*t.
Anyway, if America had any class, The Master would be number one at the box office.
But teenagers and young adults have to do something when they're not chonically bedwetting and playing video games, apparently.
