New "Looney Tunes" Film is Moving ForwardPosted: September 20th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
  Warner Bros has hired former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Jenny Slate to write the script for a new "Looney Tunes" movie. Very little is known about it, besides that it will be live-action with CG animated characters.
"Looney Tunes" began in the 1930s and features such beloved characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Wile E. Coyote, and Tweety Bird. In 1996, the studio revived the brand with "Space Jam," a live-action/cartoon featuring Michael Jordan. The movie grossed $230 million worldwide.
It's not clear whether the new movie will be about basketball again. But if it is, LeBron James wants to star. "I love ['Space Jam']. Wish I could do 'Space Jam 2,'" he wrote on Twitter back in August.

Really?
Looney Tunes only runs on the fumes of the originals' fame...
The studio has already designated these cartoons for the kiddies, but if you remember, Looney Tunes were cutting edge, ahead of their times that would satirize politics, news/ movie celebrities, and regular marriage/ kids relationships and were one of the best to infuse classical music to the animated mayhem...all with touches of violence, of course. Great stuff.
In SPACE JAM, there were some glimpses of what the Looney Tunes were such as when Yosamite Sam/ Elmer Fudd dress up like Pulp Fiction Jules/ Vincent hitmen.
The mantle of Looney Tunes spirit has been taken by The Simpsons back in the day or South Park sans the cursing.
Looney Tunes with live action is their best bet, but even then, it's really meh...

Blending live action and animation? The only good movie to do this was Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Space Jam and the looney tunes movie were just cash grabs.

LeBron James only wishes he was MJ. He isn't. f*cking hack hoop-shooter.
As for the film, please. Looney Toons was good decades ago, but the voice talent they use now often sounds like an imitation performed by a fat Subway employee in the shower.

@Sugar
Yup, the undisputed champ of animation/ live action IS and, to me anyways, will always be WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?! by 'ol trusty Bob Zemeckis.
But live action is the way to go since if they go with animation, they will just come out as the regular, unimaginative animation like the Animaniacs or Cartoon Network.
You have to understand back in the day, WB Looney Toons animation was upto or at times better animated than Disney in its heyday...beautiful backgrounds & great , fluid hand drawn animation....and all just for characters with thick accents or speech impediments running gags & bashing each other. I would say as if Rockwell painted a scene of someone taking a dump, IMO..
