"Justice League of America" Movie Set for Summer 2015Posted: October 19th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
On Wednesday, a California judge ruled in favor of DC Comics for the rights to Superman, which means that Warner Bros can proceed with "Man of Steel and "Justice League of America" movies without any more litigation from the heirs of Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.
As a result Warners is now officially moving forward with "Justice League of America" and is planning to begin shooting next year for a Summer 2015 release, the same Summer that "The Avengers 2" hits theaters.
It turns out that the lawsuit was the main reason the studio has been delaying "Justice League." They already have a script and actually considered cutting Superman out if they would have lost the lawsuit.
The studio also confirmed that "Man of Steel" will be the only DC Comics movie to come before "Justice League," which is already searching for a director and a cast.

Again do it right and they will come. Do it wrong and you will have a john carter on your hands warners. I think this has potential to be better than avengers. Think about it. Batman, superman, wonder woman. These are the A. Team of superheros. They are the oldest, most popular and widely known superheros. It SHOULD destroy the avengers internationally. Again though it depends on casting and story. All im saying is if everything lines up watch out.

They made a Justice League pilot about 20 years ago but it was never released.
Maybe this sh*t shouldn't be released either.

Admittedly DC are way behind in this battle, but I have to agree with vincere01, they do have a stronger army of characters. Granted, those charactors haven't been set up, yet.
Who says they have to go the Marvel route? Basically it all rides on the strength of this movie. IF it is done right ( admittedly a big IF), think about the amount of spinoffs it would spawn to develop the charactors first introduced in the Justice League . That could be a potentially be a huge payday for Warners.
It's a LOT riding on one movie, but Warners' track record on developing successful franchises hasn't been too shabby.
I do think it is a mistake to have t come out the same year as The Avengers 2. Seems to me that the gap in the market in a non Avengers year would make better sense.

True. The one and only one they have is a success, unless you consider the hate for TDKR..

I don't just mean their comic book franchises, I mean movie franchises as a whole. They have had some really successful franchise over the years.
I refer you to the following article:

(Note: 'Successful' doesn't necessarily mean 'good').

Oh sure, WB has had plenty of successful film franchises no doubt but I'm not sure how that's relevant to whether they can compete with Marvel's well developed comic book franchise, which is how many films in compared to DC?

Why do they have to compete? I'll be quite happy to give them all a go, as long as they at least try and put some effort into making a decent movie.

The only good JL movies were the animated ones. Using DC's track record for live actioners, how they've mishandled the Superman franchise over the years, they're dependancy on Nolan's Batman, and the fact that they're not even remotely copying Marvel's blueprint of introducing characters in their own movies first, this will absolutely fail.

I'm a big fan of the Justice League, so I'm really hoping this is done right.
As some others have touched on, it's very worrying that DC has not been able to do the same kind of foundation laying that Marvel did, releasing individual movies of all of the featured Avengers before the team movie. I think DC could get away with it if done well, though. As mentioned, their characters are generally more well-known than Marvel's, so I think the movie could still succeed with no individual introduction movies.
Who they get to play the parts will of course be very important. I wonder if 2015 will be far enough away for people to get over someone besides Bale playing Batman.
I'm really hoping this works well, because if it does, it could be a sort of reverse-Marvel startegy. Have a successful team movie set up several of the characters for individual movies.
I just hope they can overcome the problems of no Bale, a less than stellar Green Lantern lead-in, and going head to head with the second Avengers movie. Having "Man of Steel" be awesome would certainly help things.
